At the family table

Good food. More than one way.

Some days begin with flour on the counter. Others begin with a box from the pantry. There is room for both here, along with the kitchen basics that make cooking feel simpler.

From Scratch

Start with everyday ingredients and make something worth gathering around.

From the Box

A practical starting point for warm meals and less complicated days.

The Basics

Build confidence with useful skills and care for the tools you reach for most.

A little inspiration for fall comfort

Find recipe cards to print and keep close at hand, with ingredients and steps together in one place.

Old books, an open book and a brass candleholder rest on a dark wooden table.

More than a room.

In old farmhouses, the keeping room was the warm room off the kitchen.

It was where the family cooked, ate, prayed, and lived. Not a room saved for company, but rather, a place for ordinary life together.

That is the spirit of The Keeping Room. To share food whether made from scratch or from a box, to reflect a home where it will always be God first, and a make it a home worth keeping. Behind it is a Marine veteran and farm steading mom of two, building a life on ten acres in Illinois.

Think of this as an open chair by the kitchen. You are always welcome here.
